The Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) recently and unexpectedly reopened the application window for new Climate Change Agreements (CCAs) until 31st March 2022.
For those businesses who think they might qualify, this presents a major opportunity to join a CCA and benefit from significant savings – especially in this climate of high energy bills.
CCAs allow certain eligible manufacturing sectors to benefit from a reduction in Climate Change Levy, a tax on energy bills, which can run into hundreds of thousands of pounds a year for some businesses.
Does your business qualify for a Climate Change Agreement?
Some manufacturers might think they don’t qualify for a CCA, having failed to meet the criteria in the past. However, businesses must consider whether their circumstances have since changed. For example:
- Have you moved premises?
- Have you expanded your production facilities?
- Have you opened a new site?
This is a limited window of opportunity, which means that applicants will need to act very quickly to avoid missing out on potentially significant savings. While applications can be submitted until the end of March this year, it can take some time to pull together the necessary information for submission and businesses cannot afford to wait. The next opportunity to apply for a CCA won’t be until 2023.
