Ford’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan is about to receive a new addition in its parking lot: the state’s largest solar array.
The 1.038-megawatt solar array has the capacity to power 158 “average-sized” homes and will offset an estimated 794 metric tons of CO2 emissions yearly. Construction on the solar array will commence next month and will be completed by early next year. It will be the second-largest solar carport in the Midwest, after a 1.1-megawatt facility at the Cincinnati Zoo in Ohio, and it will reduce the amount of electricity Ford pulls from the grid to run its offices.
The solar array will offset an estimated 794 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
