Policy Update – Important News About ESOS Phase 3 Qualification

Published

An important update for organisations worried about ESOS 3 qualification boundaries

The Environment Agency have solidified rules for the qualification criteria for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Phase 3, alongside other important updates to the Scheme.

The move to GB Pounds (£) from Euros (€) means that qualification will no longer be affected by fluctuations in exchange rates.

Current Qualification Criteria

Your organisation is required to comply with ESOS if you meet the following criteria:

  • 250 or more employees, OR
  • Turnover £44 million or more AND Balance Sheet £38 million or more

This replaces the previous criteria, which were subject to fluctuations in the £GBP / €EUR exchange rate:

  • 250 or more employees, OR
  • Turnover €50 million AND Balance Sheet €43 million

Does this affect your business?
