SMMT partners with Envantage to provide members with specialist carbon & energy expertise.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is the latest major trade association to partner with Envantage, with the aim of helping members address challenges they face across rising energy costs, mounting compliance obligations and the challenging pathway to net zero.

SMMT is one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the UK, representing more than 800 automotive companies

Through this partnership, Envantage can offer SMMT members wider choices in the way they purchase energy with direct access to the wholesale markets and the expert support of its in-house trading desk. This ensures a bespoke approach to procurement, designed to meet the individual needs of an organisation and secure the maximum benefits from any applicable energy compensation schemes.

As specialists in all aspects of carbon and energy, Envantage’s expert consultants will bring the benefit of their joined-up thinking to SMMT members, so that procurement decisions need not conflict with other commercial goals around energy optimisation, compliance, and decarbonisation plans.

SMMT joins a number of trade associations spanning energy-intensive industries that work in partnership with Envantage.

Yung Tran, Director of Member Services and Business Development, said:

“Energy is the second largest cost for the UK automotive sector, with bills rising rapidly.

SMMT’s partnership with Envantage could help many of the businesses that make up Britain’s world-renowned automotive industry to keep those costs under control, cut their carbon footprint and boost their competitiveness.”

Colin Hindmarsh, Managing Director at Envantage, added:

“We’re delighted to welcome SMMT on board. The automotive sector has made significant strides in reducing both its energy consumption and carbon emissions, but it remains a challenging area for all businesses. We look forward to working with members to tackle these challenges in a joined-up way.”
